Japanese New Year’s traditional event is to visit Shinto shrine and prays for this year’s happiness. Also, most people draw sacred lots to foretell this year's fortune.
In many cases, Japanese poem is affixed to sacred lots to express fortune. They are well made and pretty interesting. You could tie on a sacred lot to ropes or trees after you read it. It means that you will be linked with the god by this, and it is a good thing to do.
However, I recently take it back to home as long as it is not a very bad content because I want to read the written content again occasionally.
Every year, I go to Tsurugaoka-hachimangu Shrine in Kamakura which is near from my house. Along the way back, a lot of connected sacred lots were shown by the day light and shining beautifully.
Paper casually connected to ropes, lights are making them shine just for that time.
I felt happiness in being here at this time.

大吉-吉-中吉-小吉-半吉-末吉-末小吉-凶-小凶-半凶-末凶-大凶
と言う様に、おみくじの段階は多い場合は１２段階ある。
運勢を表現する為に添えられた和歌は色々なことを考えさせられて面白い。
例年、家から近い鎌倉の鶴岡八幡宮に行くのだが、
おみくじを引いた後に結ぶという行為を最近していない。
これには、神との縁を結ぶという意味合いがあり、良いことではある。
ただ、書いてある内容をまた読みたいと思うことがあるので、
最近はよほど悪い内容でない限り、持って帰ることにしている。
今回も持って帰ることにしたのだが、帰り道に沿って沢山結ばれたおみくじが日に照らされて輝いているさまが綺麗だった。
無造作に結ばれた紙と、それを照らす光。
この時間にここにいることに幸せを感じよう。
